“The academically trained, internationally renowned artist is a musical powerhouse and total package: he can write pieces himself well, he plays his instrument perfectly, and last but not least, he is a capable interpreter of foreign compositions. Through this (and through a lot of experience and intuition) Legnani is a kind of powerful musical magician who can create complete worlds of mood and feeling across very different facets of music. In the Theodor Zink Museum, Roberto Legnani showed the full breadth of his skills in a correspondingly generously defined repertoire field. […] The biblical-inspired “Moods From The Song Of King David” from Legnani's own work received a great deal of well-deserved attention. Especially in this atmospheric composition - set immediately before the break as a brilliant climax of the concert - the qualities of Legnani were evident. In close cooperation between driving force and intense expression, the highly concentrated musician created an impressive network of complicated passages. Not only in this work did it sound as if more than just a single instrument was to be heard for long stretches. […] Legnani did not need any sheet music for any of the pieces. He played completely by heart, supported only by his technical skills and empathy. Everything flowed directly through his person into the guitar as a sharply focused end point of the artistic process. That was fascinating in every passage of the performance. [...] No doubt even after the last note that something great was indeed offered here with only a few outwardly available means. "

Roberto Legnani is a gifted musician, an artist who manages to create whole worlds in the head of the listener with just a few notes. He plays his deeply saturated and soft guitar so richly and expressively that, as soon as he has started to play, you are immediately in other spheres. […] Legnani is just as naturally at home in the Spanish music of this concert by Albeniz and Tarrega as it is in South America or Italy. He not only has a very special feel for the rhythmic subtleties of this music, but also for the wide arcs of the melodies and their inherent characteristics. Everything fit perfectly. […] The climax of this concert, however, was initially the guitarist's own piece, in which the guitarist captured an extremely wide range of emotions in tones in a very small space. And then there was still a piece that was astonishing, because Mauro Giuliani's six-movement “Rossiniane” turned out to be both lively and fascinating free arrangements of Rossini's opera melodies that one had to have fun with them. That was damn well-made music skillfully played.

Shimmering and mysterious: Roberto Legnani beguiles with the guitar - the legendary Andrés Segovia once said that the guitar puts the listener in a dream state. This is how Legnani also succeeded in evoking a hermetic world. […] Legnani focuses on the beauty of the sound of his instrument, and it is beguiling. 'Leyenda' by Isaac Albéniz, better known as 'Asturias', is arguably the most famous guitar piece that was not written for guitar. Legnani's interpretation captivated with a warm, profound and vocal tone. […] 'La Catedral' is Agustín Barrios Mangoré's most famous piece, which requires a high level of virtuosity from the interpreter. Legnani presented it onomatopoeic, the Andante Religioso sounded particularly graceful. Legnani's own creations are inspired by folklore, tasteful and fit seamlessly into the program. 'Moods from the Song of King David' combines Andalusian and Sephardic influences. [...] ”
